Persecution of Unification members

Here is an interesting passage from the 1983 speech Total Indemnity. Father explains how persecution creates the indemnity required for restoration. Including restoration of the individual. We as people on a religious path can benefit from persecution. The problem though is that it is very difficult for us really to be persecuted. Because the providence centers so fully on Father, persecution for all intents and purposes is always persecution of Father. This is ok in its way. It helps Father advance his purposes, and helps God advance the providence of restoration.

The problem however is for us peronally. We cannot really benefit from persecution of the movement, because we do not really own responsibility for the movement. Ultimately hatred from those who oppose Unification is always directed toward Father. Our persecution is relatively light. Even if people are picking on us and giving us a hard time, the person they are most interested to destroy is Father. Of course there are exceptions, such as underground missionaries who were captured and executed. For the most part though, true persecution is not really available to members. Father is just too too big a target.

This leaves us members with insufficient indemnity to support the pursuit of our own perfection. To cure that, an arena exists in which member persecution really can count for something, this is our life INSIDE (!) the movement. The suffering we experience there is true persecution. It harms us.

Unfortunately most members failed to recognize the essence of
these experiences and misunderstood them to be simply the result of a poorly organized movement and the shortcomings of underdeveloped leaders. 1000's of members left, or just went cold and unresponsive.

How sad. The cosmic realm of Unification is a careful ecology of indemnity designed for the fastest possible liberation of every one of us. It was hard for people to recognize that the abuse and mistreatment that happen WITHIN the movement, was because, it is the only genuine persecution available to us.

Here is the passage (from Total Indemnity, delivered April, 1983):

Please understand clearly that restoration is accomplished through indemnity and that this is the road to perfection. How about you, the members of the Unification Church? I always speak in a public manner and I may chastise a church leader during a speech. That is an example of restoration through indemnity. When I chastise that person in public, he is representing the world, and if he listens to me and accepts what I say, he is able to overcome the problem. When I do such a thing, certainly the problem becomes apparent. That sort of public chastisement is the best example of restoration through indemnity. What is the purpose of indemnity? It is for the sake of perfection — perfection of the self, perfection of the family, the clan, the nation, the world and the cosmos. And what is the result of the perfection of the cosmos? The ultimate result is the liberation of God.

The final conclusion of what God¡¯s providence is like is simple. Who can stop the war between your mind and body, which have been warring and unable to unite? Not even God can stop it. Identity Workshop in Slovakia

From March 5 - 8, 2009 I taught what was called an"Identity Workshop" for "older Second Gen," (young people, students and professionals, single and married, in their 20's) About 60 people from 5 countries attended. Arrangements were entirely homegrown from the grassroots, masterfully and peacefully managed, self-sustaing, grounded in a healthy, honest, and forthright balance of costs and expenses needed to support the range of logistics required for a successful educational program, promotion, travel, housing, production, archiving, and publicity. The workshop proper was comprised of 4 "blocks" of 3 hours each, designed to address matters of identity, spiritual growth, and daily life for the individual, family and community. The texts from which the lectures were developed were Cheon Seong Geong, and True Family Gateway to Heaven Geros Kunkel, head of the European 2nd Generation department, spoke at the end of the program to explain and introduce the ...

Katsumi Kambashi "There must be only the peaceful world of parents, and originally there should not have been things such as the concept of Cain and Abel. You must know that there should be only parents' love and ideal family. Likewise, there must be only the Peace UN, Parents' UN, that is, the Peace UN of True Parents. But people do not know about this. We must unite the Cain and Abel UNs and make one Peace UN, which will be the base for world peace. This is the principle. There must be only parents' love, and there should not be Cain and Abel. Unification must be done through natural harmony, not through forceful methods. It should be developed in deta...
